At ºÚÁϳԹÏ, our Senior School is dedicated to caring for the whole child by fostering an environment of enlightened academic rigour, developing character so that our students can make a positive impact wherever they go.

We believe in setting high expectations for our students to prepare them to be:

  • independent critical thinkers
  • creative and curious problem solvers
  • confident, socially aware communicators
  • purposeful collaborators
  • challenge-ready to seize the opportunities in the future.

Enlightened Academic Rigour

ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï is committed to providing a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum that encourages critical thinking, creativity and intellectual curiosity. Enlightened academic rigour means having breadth in the curriculum, supported by student agency in subject selection, whilst ensuring that our students critically think about their work and fully understand the content rather than learn by rote.

Our experienced educators are passionate about helping students achieve their full potential. We offer a range of support services to ensure academic success. We expect our students to be proactive in their learning by:

  • regularly completing academic prep
  • striving to do their best
  • taking responsibility for their educational journey.

Character Development

Senior School is a pivotal time for personal development, and at ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï we emphasise the importance of character, resilience and leadership.

We encourage our students to set personal goals, engage in self-reflection and develop strong self-awareness. Participation in co-curricular activities - such as sports,Ìýthe arts ²¹²Ô»åÌýcommunity service - is part of what makes 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÔÚÏß special, helping students build confidence, teamwork skills and a sense of belonging. Students are expected to participate in at least one season of ISA sport per year. All students in Year 8 take part in our structured Service Learning program, and students continue to organise and participate in their own Service Learning in Year 9 and beyond.

Through our Other Learning ExperiencesÌý±è°ù´Ç²µ°ù²¹³¾:

  • Year 7 students forge new connections and challenge themselves on camp
  • Year 9 students take part in the Rites of Passage trip. Additionally, most students in Year 9 get involved in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme.
  • Year 10 students take part in a Service Learning trip or Outdoor Learning Experience trip.
  • In Year 11, these experiences build to our annual Outback trip.

In the Senior School, ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï students are also encouraged to take part in a wide range of other wonderful experiences, from Musical Ensembles ²¹²Ô»åÌýDramatic Productions to the Content Creation Club, Sustainability Club and representation in The Spoken Word.

As a candidate school in the Round Square network,Ìýwe incorporate the IDEALS of Internationalism, Democracy, Environmental Awareness, Adventure, Leadership and Service into all that we do. The Round Square IDEALS link well with what we expect of 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÔÚÏß students.

Students in Year 10 who live the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÔÚÏß values and fully involve themselves in the life of the College, meeting all expectations, are awarded House Colours.

In summary, the Senior School at ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï is a place where students are challenged to excel academically, grow personally and engage meaningfully with their community. While many independent schools may do the same, 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÔÚÏß does this while also being fully independent, big enough to cater and small enough to care. The inclusive nature of 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÔÚÏß and the connections formed between students and staff are what make 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÔÚÏß stand out from other independent schools. We are proud of the supportive and dynamic environment we provide, and we look forward to seeing our students thrive and become the leaders of tomorrow.
